Beyoncé stands up to lefties
R&B singer and occasional actress Beyoncé Knowles has blasted the National Organization of Left-Handed People (NOLHaP) for illegally using her song "Irreplaceable" at their annual convention and demanded the group to cease and desist immediately.
In a written statement released to the press and emailed to the organizers of NOLHaP, the former Destiny's Child frontwoman chided the group for "their irresponsible and copyright-infringing usage of my intellectual property."
The song, which features the famous catchy lyric "to the left, to the left," became a staple at weekly NOLHaP meetings. The organization has regional offices all over the United States. At the group's annual convention held recently in Palm Springs, California, the song was played incessantly during breaks from keynote speeches.
"That group did not ask for permission to use my song, nor would they have been granted that permission or privilege," the statement read.
It continued: "I have asked the NOLHaP publicly not to use my song. It is my hope that my wish will be honored."
Yet "Irreplaceable" blared again at the opening of the new leftie-friendly Wal-Mart in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma this past weekend.
So the singer called bent*spud to vent, saying, "Like, it's completely unfair to be so misrepresented. I didn't want to be associated with a bunch of freaks."
She then emailed this exclusive statement to bent*spud: "Left-handed people's views and values in NO WAY represent me as Beyoncé Knowles. I ask that 'Irreplaceable' no longer be used to promote and inspire that group.
"'Irreplaceable' was written by Ne-Yo and vocally arranged by myself as a scathing rant against the soulless, stupid nature of the no-good players out there who think they could get away with their shady-ass deeds," the statement read. "It was not in any way meant to inspire crazy left-handed people to flaunt their left-handed lives for all to see."
NOLHaP has not returned bent*spud's telephone calls for their official statement regarding the matter.
