Schiller: Violently allergic to Asians
Toronto, ON -- A female tourist who is severely allergic to Asian people is in a coma after her car broke down at a very busy intersection in the city's bustling Chinatown district.
Norma Schiller, 29, was rushed to nearby Mount Sinai Hospital with very faint vital signs after firefighters were able to unlock her vehicle and get her out.
Eyewitness reports say that after the woman's car stopped dead at the busy intersection of Spadina Ave. and Queen St., she started to wheeze. When Asian pedestrians approached the car to see if they can assist the clearly distressed driver, Schiller rolled up the car windows and locked the doors, and proceeded to have violent seizures shortly thereafter.
"It looked like she was being possessed or something. It was pretty bad," said Chester Chan, 25. "When she started foaming at the mouth, that's when I called 911."
The woman, who is on a business trip from Parkersburg, West Virginia is suffering from a rare hypersensitivity to people of Asian descent, according to medical records obtained by attending physicians.
"Her heart basically stops and her lungs fill up with bile whenever she is exposed to a high number of Asian people. It is the most baffling medical condition I have ever encountered," said Dr. Jack Armstrong. Armstrong said Schiller's condition worsened after she was taken to hospital because the emergency room staff were all Asians.
"It took us a while to figure it out, which was unfortunate," said Armstrong. "We don't know if she will make it through or not."
Toronto Police Constable Wayson Hong, who was the first to arrive on the scene, said that Schiller's GPS device appeared to have malfunctioned and directed her to the wrong route.
"I think she meant to take Bathurst St. but instead ended up on Spadina Ave. for some reason," said Hong.
