Jazz Jennings on gender confirmation surgery: ‘I’m going to have a vagina!’
The date is set.
Reality TV personality and social media star Jazz Jennings will undergo gender confirmation surgery on June 26.
“I’m going to have new genitalia,” Jennings, 17, beamed in a new YouTube video. “Penis to vagina. That’s some serious s–t, y’all. I am just … I can’t believe it. I’m going to have a vagina.”
Although she’s very enthusiastic about the surgery, the “I Am Jazz” star is sad she’ll no longer be able to urinate standing up.
“The one sad thing is — peeing stand up is so cool,” she said. “I don’t think I’ve appreciated it enough to be able pee standing up … Honestly when you wake up in the morning and you’re lazy as hell and you’re tired, it’s the most convenient thing to do. I keep the toilet seat up … right when I go in I don’t have to touch all that slimy juice underneath the toilet seat. I just do it and sometimes I don’t even have to wash my hands if I don’t like touch anything.”
Jennings, who sparred with fellow TLC star Derick Dillard last year, said she’ll keep fans and followers up to date on her recovery — including some private details.
“This is something I’ve wanted my entire life,” she said, noting she’s wanted a vagina since age 3.
As for the surgery itself, Jennings explained she’ll be undergoing a new experimental procedure where doctors will take tissue from her stomach to form the inside of her new vagina.
She doesn’t anticipate any complications, but said she’s ready should anything arise.
“Overall, I feel like the results are gonna be good. Hopefully it’ll turn out well,” she said.
