Caitlyn Jenner, Gosselin kids to join forces for ‘I Am Cait Plus 8’ mashup show
Decorated Olympian Caitlyn Jenner and the Gosselin children will be appearing together in a new “mashup” reality show to be called “I Am Cait Plus 8,” representatives from both camps have confirmed.
A tentative collaborative agreement reached between E! and TLC, the networks that have aired “I Am Cait” and “Kate Plus 8,” respectively, paved the way for the creation of the new reality show, which will see the newly minted transgender activist try to mother the offspring of notorious TV couple Jon & Kate Gosselin. It is presently in its initial development stages.
The show will be filmed primarily at Jenner’s mansion in Malibu, California over the summer in order to accommodate the children’s school schedules. There is plenty of room at the 3,500-square-foot secluded property overlooking El Pescador State Beach: it boasts four bedrooms, four baths, radiant-heated floors, indoor and outdoor fireplaces, a covered patio, and a pool and spa.
“I Am Cait” executive producer Gil Goldschein said the new show is not meant to be a replacement for Jenner’s successful reality show, which is presently on hiatus, but rather, an extension of it.
“The show opened up so many opportunities for Caitlyn, and we just wanted to push the envelope further by expanding on the possibilities,” said Goldschein. “I mean, who doesn’t wanna see a transgendered sextugenarian female try to raise two sets of rambunctious twins? It’s TV gold.”
In a prepared statement released to the press, Jenner said she is excited for this new chapter in her life and could not wait to show the world her motherly instincts in action.
“I want to be a well-rounded transgendered person, and what better way to achieve that than to plunge head-on into looking after these eight kids?,” Jenner said. “I cannot wait to make them my world-famous peach cobbler.”
The Gosselin parents have echoed Jenner’s excitement, with Kate expressing her admiration for the former Olympian and her courage and strength.
“Caitlyn is an inspiration, and I am truly honored to have my kids be in her presence. They have so much to learn from her,” she said. “I just hope they don’t drive her crazy.”
“I Am Cait Plus 8” will be jointly produced by E! and TLC and will air on both networks.
