Connecticut gas station employee steals $17K on his first day of work
A Connecticut gas station employee allegedly stole more than $17,000 from his boss on his first day of work, police said Wednesday.
The sticky-fingered attendant made off with 89 boxes of cigarettes, lottery tickets and cash totaling $17,183 during his first solo overnight shift last week at the Go on Gas in Hamden, cops said.
He also grabbed his employee folder, containing his personal information, authorities said. “The store owner does not know the new employee’s name,” cops said.
“Careful whom you hire!!” they warned.
Police released a surveillance photo of the bald, bearded suspect in the store in the hopes of identifying him.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Jay Bunnell of the Hamden Police Department Patrol Division at (203) 230-4030.
