2019 saw climate change wreak unfathomable disasters upon the world, yet the denial brigade continues. Protests erupted in Hong Kong against a new extradition law. Britain overwhelmingly elected a buffoon as Prime Minister. And the United States House of Representatives finally impeached the current unhinged occupant of the Oval Office after months of explosive hearings.

As per usual, these 21 songs are ranked based on each title’s performance on the Bent*Spun 21 from the chart dated January 6, 2019 through to the chart dated December 29, 2019. Songs are ranked based on an inverse point system, with weeks at No. 1 earning the greatest value and weeks at No. 21 earning the least.

In 2019, the Queen of Pop emerged as the MVP, placing four tracks from her new album Madame X on the year-end tally. Tying for second place with two tracks each are queer country sensation Orville Peck and the incomparable Ariana Grande. But who among them stood out and claimed the No. 1 song of the year?
