Retro-Review: “Rattle And Hum” by U2

Before their foray into electronic music in the 1990s, the Dubliners released this hybrid concert/studio album, essentially the band’s love letter to Americana and American roots music. Since it came in the wake of the massive success of The Joshua Tree, it unfortunately wasn’t given a fair shot. This album has some great moments and showcases the sheer talent of a band with an honesty and willingness to wear their rock influences on their sleeves. Superb through and through.

Best tracks: “Desire,” “Angel Of Harlem,” “All I Want Is You,” “Love Rescue Me,” “Bullet The Blue Sky,” “Hawkmoon 269,” “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For”
