“Olympian” by Gene

It’s an excellent jump-off for talented blokes who know how to wear their influences on their sleeves and still come off with a sonic identity that is distinctly their own.

The Bent*Spud 2 Cents:

One of the crowning achievements of Britpop, this debut release by the London band fronted by the enchanting Martin Rossiter was recently reissued on gorgeous blue vinyl in celebration of its 20th anniversary. It's an excellent jump-off for talented blokes who know how to wear their influences on their sleeves and still come off with a sonic identity that is distinctly their own. A shame they couldn't fit "For The Dead" and "Be My Light, Be My Guide" on the reissue. It would have made this album even more perfect.

Best Tracks: "Olympian," "Haunted By You," "London Can You Wait"
