The Bent*Spud 2 Cents:Based on a 1980s British TV series of the same title, this modern day take draws upon the current zeitgeist. It's a female-centric heist movie that doesn't employ the predictable elements you'd expect from a textbook heist movie and instead focuses on reality and the emotional impact of the events in which the characters find themselves entrenched. Viola Davis shines as the central widow character, as does the rest of the ensemble cast that also includes Liam Neeson and Colin Farrell. Not a lot of wasted acting talent here. The only thing that dampened my enthusiasm about this movie is the slow start and how it kind of got rushed and messy toward the end. A good movie, overall.
